    Joining Arion

You aren't an official member of the game until an administrator approves your application. If you receive an acceptance letter, congratulations, this means you're officially a member of the game! First, you most post your introduction in the player introduction forum, then you are free to start playing!

    Player Name Regulations

Arion is a game for mature people, therefore we expect our players to use mature names. We request that when you sign up on the boards, or when conducting game business, each player uses a "real name". This name does not have to be your own, it just has to be a name that you would see someone in real life having. Please refrain from using screen names.

    Player Levels

    Weanling
  • Can own 20 horses total (4 Created, the rest must be bred or bought.)
  • In order to advance, players must have been in the game for two weeks, and have at least 10 posts on the forum.

    Boarder
  • Can own 20 horses total (created, bred, or bought)
  • In order to advance, players must have been in the game for two months, have held at least one show, and must ask their mentor (the person who owns the barn you're boarding with) for permission to move up. Your mentor should base their decision on your actions, your contributions to the game, and your activity level.

Backyard Barn(Housed on Boarding Barns Property)
  • Can own 50 horses total (created, bred, or bought)
  • To advance, you must be in the game for five months, two of which must be as a boarder, three as a backyard barn. All players must submit a barn approval application to the administration. Players must also have a completed and fully functioning website.

    Private Stable
  • Players may own an unlimited number of horses.
  • To advance, players must have been in the game for seven months, two as a boarder, three as a backyard barn, and two as a private stable.

    Public Barn
  • Players may own an unlimited number of horses.
  • Players may take on boarders.

    Breeds Allowed

Any and all horse breeds are welcome! Mules (very versatile creatures) and donkeys are also welcome, as they are found in the "real" horse world.

    The Master Breeder

Master Breeder is a title reserved for those who have completed a breed-specific exam. Passing these exams demonstrates the player's superior knowledge regarding a certain breed. If a player passes the Master Breeder exam with a 80% or better, they earn the title Master Breeder, and the right to list themselves as such. Master Breeder-bred horses tend to sell for higher prices, and their stock is generally thought of as being a higher quality. Any player may earn the title Master Breeder, regardless of their current level in the game.

    Activity

We ask that all players be active at least once a week on the forums in order to be considered an active member. If a player doesn't log in for over a month (without a vacation post), that player will be officially deleted from the game. Players may take a leave of absence if necessary, which is longer than one month, by contacting the administration.

    Buying/Selling Horses

Players must transfer all sold horses to their new owners promptly, as well as update horses' information as often as possible.

    Association & Barn Requirements

If your barn or association doesn't have a working website, it is not considered open. You will not be allowed to host events or accept registrations until the website is up and working. Once it is, please send the link to the admin email and we will promptly list it on the main site.

    Webpage Requirements

All Arion webpages must include some sort of disclaimer saying that the site is fictional, such as "This site is entirely fictional and is part of Arion [include link] ; take the reins in your own equestrian dream".

    Money Matters

All players begin with $250,000. Please create an account with our automated bank, also known as Arion National Bank (click HERE to go to the bank). All monetary transactions need to be carried out through the Arion Bank.

    Horse Creations

Unlike many other SIM games, there are no specific creation limits in Arion. We only ask that you do not create horses excessively. You may not create horses simply for the purpose of selling them. Also, no two horses may share the same name. In order to respect the rights of horse owners no real life horses are allowed in Arion. The only way you may bring in a "real horse" into Arion is if you, or someone you have permission from owns the horse.

    Farrier Requirements

All horses must see the farrier every 6-8 weeks. The exception to this rule is weanlings/foals, but once a horse is a yearling, they are covered by this rule.

    Vet Requirements

Every horse must see the vet at least twice a year to receive (at a very minimum) its vaccinations and a general exam.

Sale Requirements RE: Hoofcare & Healthcare

When selling a horse, you must publicly provide both vet and farrier records. If you are unable to provide vet and farrier records, and are unwilling to have your horse vetted or trimmed, the only place the horse may be sold is the auction house.

Remember, we can ask to see a random player's vet and farrier records at any time!

    Breeding

There is no limit to breeding in Arion. That being said, do not forget this is a mature game, and we expect our players to use discretion and good judgement when breeding. Would you breed your real mare to just any stallion? No, and you shouldn't do so here. Please refrain from breeding foals simply to sell them, this is a repremandable offense. We encourage in-game breeding and it is perfectly acceptable for players to sell off a few horses in their foal crop each year, but if a cross has no merit and it is obvious that the foal was created only for monetary gain or anyone who found to be breeding excessively may be subject to a review by the Administration.

    Picture Perfect?

Arion encourages all members to get written permission to use any photos. If a player uses a photo without permission, Arion is not liable. If you are a photographer or owner and you see a photo you'd like removed from a player's page, please contact either the player directly, or the game administration and we will have it immediately removed. You may not claim photos before you use them. You must have some sort of "proof" (website, ad, etc) that you are using them. Otherwise, they're free game to other players.

    Importing/Exporting Horses

Players may import horses to Arion as they wish (you will use a creation credit), as long as this complies with their maximum allowed horses.

    Holding A Show

Players are encouraged to hold shows, but they must be sure to complete all of the necessary work. This includes producing a class list and entry rules, as well as listing the basic information (entry fee, allowed breeds, administration fees etc.). You must host your show somewhere, so be sure to either let your mentor know you'd like to host a show, or be sure to find another barn. Once you've finished that, see the upcoming events forum, and submit an entry post for your show.

    Associations

To open an association, players must be able to demonstrate a need for the association. Associations receive a monthly stipend of $5,000 for the costs associated with the operation and upkeep of their registry. If an association is found to be inactive, it will be considered closed and the administration will open the application process for a new owner. An association will be considered inactive when the owner(s) neglect to host 1 sanctioned show for the association within a months time. Remember that you Association will not be considered active or open unless you PM and admin and have it added to the main site.

    Claiming An Association

Associations are first come, first served. If you do not, somehow, assert that you are either the new owner or that you are working on the association, it's still up for grabs. This may be done through your signature, a forum post, or some other way. Also, just as a reminder, please contact the admin regarding available associations.

    Opening A Business

Players may freely open a business of any sort in Arion. Business owners receive a monthly stipend of $5,000 for the costs associated with the operation of their enterprise.

    Quitting the Game

If you elect to quit the game, we wish you the best of luck in all of your endeavours. We understand that Arion is not suited to all players, and do not expect every player that joins will stay with us for years. Should you decide that Arion is not the game for you, please simply email the administration stating that you are quitting. You are always welcome to apply for membership again in the future, just be sure to provide your previous member name.
